La Milonga Ideal at Warwick Court House Ballroom, 2nd January, Eighth Night edition.
La Milonga Ideal: Eighth Night edition with Richard Peixoto. Friday 2nd January
To celebrate the beginning of 2026, and the ending of the Christmas season, we will be taking Tango Warwick's monthly traditional milonga to the supreme elegance of the Ballroom of the 300 year old Warwick Court House. It is in the centre of historic Warwick. Ricardo Peixoto, our resident star DJ, and co-founder with Su Park of Tango Warwick, will ensure the music and dancing will enchant us and take us into 2026 full of magical tango memories.
WHEN: Friday 2nd January, 6.30pm, music stops at 10.30pm.
WHERE: The Court House Ballroom, Jury Street, Warwick, CV34 4EW.
COST, BOOKING, PRE-REGISTRATION: £16 (£10 for students with student card),in CASH, at door, if tickets still available. To be sure pre-register / book via https://forms.gle/PGtH7sqvV75mD3re9 where you can pay in advance; if this causes problems email tangowarks@gmail.com with subject "Jan Milonga ".
As you may know Warwick citizens like an early night and now we must stop the music by 10.30 pm. To compensate there is the early start at 6.30 pm.
As well as the usual warm welcome for visitors and regulars, and good vibes, there will be somewhat festive nibbles, and some wine for early arrivers, but BYOB if you wish. The floor is excellent. We aim to make it a very good evening!
THE COURT HOUSE is on the main street, A429, through Warwick above "Information", on the right when going East, opposite the road leading to St Mary's Church. The entrance is on the side road.
It is about 15 minutes walk from Warwick railway station, less if you go through a park. See http://www.traveline.info. Also close to M40 (via junction 15) and A46 with its connections to M6, M69, M1 .
PARKING: Parking has not been a serious problem before unless there is a special event in the Castle; that seems not to be so on 2nd. It has to be looked for though : Jury Street (A429) the main road itself, by the castle wall, in side streets towards or beyond St Mary's Church. Some free after 6pm, others £2.30 for the night after 6pm. See https://www.parkopedia.com
Useful car parks are:
West Rock Car Park, West Rock, Warwick, CV34 4DE , 5-minute walk to the venue;
Cape Rd, Warwick CV34 4UN. Open and free after 5pm. Not available before 5pm. My favourite choice if street parking seems full. 10 minutes walk.
St. Nicholas Park Car Park, Banbury Road, Warwick, CV34 4QY. 7-minute walk to the venue (uphill!).
ACCOMMODATION: Warwick is a major tourist centre, and very close to Stratford. There are many hotels and B&B's. You can even stay in Warwick Castle grounds: https://www.warwick-castle.com/short-breaks/offers-packages/
Looking forward to seeing you! but anyway wishing you all a Very Happy 2026,
David, for Tango Warwick.
PS: Eighth night: Some have queried, even disputed, the title "Eighth Night" , sometimes with a less than thorough reading of a Wikipedia entry
A more careful reading would note the sentence " For some, the Twelve Days are considered 26 December to 6 January,[9] thus including Epiphany." Tango Warwick is among the elite "some" as can be seen from previous years. But don't worry: those 9 ladies dancing who arrived last year probably enjoyed it so much then, with Ewa Zbrzeska, that having heard about Ricardo Peixoto they will be coming again this year if they possibly can.
