La Milonga Ideal, 7th March with Diego Doigneau; special class "Dancing in milongas " with milonga taster visit.

Friday 7th sees the March edition of Tango Warwick's traditional milonga,  with Diego Doigneau as guest DJ.

It will be at Warwick Space and preceded there by a special class designed for those who have done some classes in Argentine Tango, maybe quite few, and have either never ventured onto the dance floor in a milonga, or have done so but would like some confidence building in order to be able to enjoy a crowded dance floor.

WHERE: Warwick Space, 71 Coten End, Warwick, CV34 4NU.

WHEN: Friday 7th March, Class: 6.45 to 7.45,
Class with Milonga Taster: 6.45 to 8.50 pm .
Milonga: 8pm to Midnight.

COST: (IN CASH!):
Milonga only £12 (£8 students with student ID)
Class only £8 (£5)
Class +Milonga Taster £10 (£8)
Class + Milonga £15 ( £10)

THE MILONGA:
We will be at home in Warwick SPACE. It is a large room with a decent floor, in a space reminiscent of Buenos Aires' Sunderland Club (some say), and with great acoustics.
There will be some nibbles, soft drinks, fine cordials and wine for early arrivers, but BYOB if you wish.

We encourage good tango, nice ronda and cabeceo!

It will be the friendly, joyful, and lively milonga tango dancers have come to love, and come long distances to enjoy. Above all there will be a warm welcome for visitors, regulars, and once regulars, alike. Quoting a distinguished tanguero "a lovely milonga with a barrio feel, very good and friendly social dancers and a fluid ronda."

THE CLASS+milonga taster:
The main aim of the class is to provide dancers with some  techniques, and the confidence, to enable them to dance in milongas. Though not suitable for absolute beginners,  little knowledge of tango will be assumed. There will also be a brief discussion of milonga etiquette.

The teachers will be Luis Rodrigues & Elizabeth Knock, Tango Warwick's resident teachers, see https://tangoynadamas.org

Following the class it will be possible to join  the milonga  either for a 50 minute taster period (with soft drink or glass of wine), or for the full 4 hours for the more experienced.

WARWICK SPACE is on the north side of the main road north of the river between Leamington and Warwick; next to the Black Pug pub, aka Millwright Arms, and almost opposite a Sainsbury local. It is a short walk from Warwick Railway Station, and not far from M40 and A46. There are several hotels and B&B's nearby in this tourist area. The Castle Limes Hotel is a few minutes away. The Jephson in Leamington is about 1.3 miles away. Some swear by its breakfast. You can now even stay in Warwick Castle grounds.
PARKING is mostly on road, especially towards Warwick on the main road or Smith Street (one way, going East), on back streets (not very easy), or towards Warwick station. The St Nicholas Park car park is about 10 minutes walk away but you probably could do with a torch on the way back.

MAKING A WEEKEND OF IT As well as all the  tourist sites in the area there is plenty of good tango to be had in the Midlands and  nearby this  Saturday & Sunday.
