The May edition will feature Michele Tedder's return as guest DJ. Much esteemed and a trailblazer for tango in the West Country, her base is Tango West in Bristol which she set up, over 25 years ago, with Andrew Oldroyd. We look forward to benefitting from her years of experience in understanding the dynamics of what makes a milonga into a memorably wonderful experience. It will be a great evening!
AS AN EXTRA TREAT BIAGIO FORTE WILL START OFF THE EVENING at 8.00 WITH A TANDA OF LIVE ACCORDION MUSIC TO DANCE TO (see https://youtu.be/ZTWgTr8-no0?si=l_S9sQmpuljDxCdy)---so come early !
We will be at our atmospheric home in Warwick SPACE. It is a large room with a decent floor, in a space reminiscent of Buenos Aires' Sunderland Club (some say), and with great acoustics.
There will be some nibbles, soft drinks, fine cordials and wine for early arrivers, but BYOB if you wish.
We encourage good tango, nice ronda and cabeceo!
It will be the friendly, joyful, and lively milonga tango dancers have come to love, and come long distances to enjoy. Above all there will be a warm welcome for visitors, regulars, and once regulars, alike. Quoting a distinguished tanguero "a lovely milonga with a barrio feel, very good and friendly social dancers and a fluid ronda."
WARWICK SPACE is on the north side of the main road north of the river between Leamington and Warwick; next to the Black Pug pub, aka Millwright Arms, and almost opposite a Sainsbury local. It is a short walk from Warwick Railway Station, and not far from M40 and A46. There are several hotels and B&B's nearby in this tourist area. The Castle Limes Hotel is a few minutes away. You can now even stay in Warwick Castle grounds.
PARKING is mostly on road, especially towards Warwick on the main road or Smith Street (one way, going East), on back streets (not very easy), or towards Warwick station. The St Nicholas Park car park is about 10 minutes walk away but you probably could do with a torch on the way back.
A46: (If coming from NE or East of Coventry) The A46 re-opens on Thursday morning, but there will be lane closures and a 50 mph limit on the section going round Kenilworth. Not really important, it is anyway usually as quick to go via Stoneleigh on the B4113, even though the authorities try to persuade you not to.
HEALTH PRECAUTIONS If you think you may be infectious please stay away, especially if you think it may only be the flu!
