La Milonga Ideal with Irina Zoueva/ Wednesday Space Practica.

No classes at St Mary's this week! We have La Milonga Ideal on Friday at Warwick Place instead. See below for details and  for the Totally Informal Wednesday Space Practica tomorrow, Wednesday 1st July.

La Milonga Ideal,  July Edition, with Irina Zoueva:

TIME: 8pm to midnight, Friday 3rd July.

PLACE: Warwick SPACE, 71 Coten End, Warwick CV34 4NU.
COST
(at door in cash only ) : £12 (£8 for students with student card). IN CASH. Prebooking not required.

Irina Zoueva* will be the guest DJ for the July edition of Tango Warwick's monthly traditional milonga. It will be her first time with us and we are delighted to welcome her. She has DJ'ed several times in nearby Lutterworth, among other places in the UK and Europe, and if you heard her at the recent "Best of Both Worlds" milonga there you will not want to miss this one. She will ensure that the milonga will brighten, excite, amaze, and enchant your Friday evening, and light up the month to come. Come and join friendly dancers from all over the region, and beyond, in the creation of lovely dances inspired by her music.

We will be back at our atmospheric home, Warwick SPACE. It is a large room with a good floor,(recently restored), in a space reminiscent of Buenos Aires' Sunderland Club (some say), and with great acoustics. Skylights now open and can work together with quiet fans to provide fresh, cool, air.

There will be some nibbles, cold soft drinks, fine cordials and wine for early arrivers, but BYOB if you wish.

We encourage good tango, nice ronda and cabeceo!

It will be the friendly, joyful, welcoming, and lively, milonga tango dancers have come to love. Above all there will be a warm welcome for visitors, occasionals, and regulars alike.

WARWICK SPACE is on the north side of the main road north of the river between Leamington and Warwick; next to the Black Pug pub, aka Millwright Arms, and almost opposite a Sainsbury local. It is a short walk from Warwick Railway Station, and not far from M40 and A46. There are several hotels & B&B's nearby in this tourist area. The Castle Limes Hotel is a few minutes away. Kenilworth hotels are a short drive away. You can even stay in Warwick Castle grounds.

PARKING is mostly on road, especially towards Warwick on the main road or Smith Street (one way, going East), on back streets (not very easy), or towards Warwick station. The huge St Nicholas Park car park is about 10 minutes walk away but you probably could do with a torch on the way back. [If you drop by next door at the Black Pug, and eg enjoy "Fizz Friday! Enjoy half-price fizz from 5 PM to 7 PM" they will let you park there for the evening. If their car park is not crowded and it is late they are unlikely to worry even if you don't get the fizz. ]

*IRINA ZOUEVA: Irina is resident DJ for Tango Secrets practicas and milongas in west London. In addition, she is regularly invited to be guest DJ at various milongas in the UK and encuentros/marathons across Europe. Her choice of music is traditional. She prefers tangos mainly from the Golden Age, with an occasional tanda from the 20s or 50-60s, or orchestras of the 21st century.
" I like to vary the mood, pace and overall energy of the dance floor from tanda to tanda, provoking and supporting the interest and enthusiasm of the dancers. I choose only "music for the feet" - the tangos that make you want to dance every tanda. When I see empty chairs and a full dance floor, I know that my goal as a DJ has been achieved!"

Totally Informal Wednesday Space Practica:

TIME: 8.15 pm to 10.15, Wednesday 1st July.

PLACE: Warwick SPACE, 71 Coten End, Warwick CV34 4NU.
COST
(at door in cash only ) : £5  IN CASH

This is a very good opportunity to practice Argentine Tango, or just to enjoy dancing it. You will need to have done some tango in order to have something to practice! but a class or two should be enough.

You do not need to come with a partner.  Drop in when you like for as long as you like.

These sessions are regular events with tango dancers who want to improve their dancing whilst they enjoy it. It is a friendly, totally relaxed and sociable time with a small number of dancers of wildly different levels. There is a decent floor and music, usually by our resident DJ Andy Adamson. It is likely that you will be able to dance with or be advised by a more experienced dancer (especially in the first hour) but you can easily avoid that if you prefer!

This is not a substitute for classes and the other participants are not teachers, though they are usually happy to advise inexperienced dancers who are about to take classes or are taking regular classes.

It is organised by a team under the umbrella of Tango Warwick. However you do not need to be involved with Tango Warwick to come. You will be made very welcome.

David, for Tango Warwick.
