Milonga La Ideal, 13th night edition, 7th Jan/ January classes

Milonga La Ideal, Special 13th night edition, Warwick Court House Ballroom, DJ Ricardo Peixoto.

The 13th night but no longer part of Christmas. The true loves have done their bit, or not; the partridge has flown away or been eaten; the drummers are in retreat. It is the cusp between Christmas & New Year Festivity and the real 2022. To get you through the cusp Ricardo Peixoto will bring you more than a baker's dozen of gorgeous tandas. Those, with the accompanying warm embraces, and lovely dances, in the beautiful Court House Ballroom, will ensure a continuity of joyfulness. A feeling of warmth, friendship, and well being as you spill out into the streets of medieval Warwick, which will give you confidence to take whatever the Fates of 2022 come up with.
Do come and join us if you can, for a very good evening of tango!

  • Time : 7th January 2022, 7.30 -11.30

  • Place: Court House Ballroom, Jury Street, Warwick, CV34 4EW.

  • DJ: Ricardo Peixoto.

  • Cost: £12 pp if paid for by 4th January. Plus "vaxx+test", see below.

  • Booking: required via https://forms.gle/SPQzh4rxrtM62X7t5; email tangowarks@gmail.com for queries etc. I suggest you book now to keep us cheerful and be sure of entry, but don't pay until about the New Year in case omicron causes problems.

  • Sustenance: There will be suitable nibbles, soft drinks and fine cordials, plus some wine. BYOB if you wish, but you may have to balance it on a window sill.

  • How to find it: On the main East-West road through Warwick between East & West gates. It is on the first floor opposite the road leading from the big Church. The entrance is just round the the corner from the main road. The building is also the Visitor Centre. Go through the door, where someone should meet you to check your vaxx & test status, and up the stairs.

  • Accommodation: there are hotels & B&B in these tourist areas of Warwick, Leamington, and Kenilworth. Castle Limes Hotel, down the hill, near the railway station, and walking distance, was advertising £75 for double B&B. Jephson Hotel in Leamington is a long walk but 12 minute drive with similar prices (their breakfast has given joy to tangueros recently).

  • Parking: I see no special event at Warwick Castle so there should not be the problems people had when the Castle was celebrating Hallowe'en. It is probably easiest to forage for a parking place, including on road, maybe paying for an hour before they become free. Suggested places include the road leading down from the big Church to our venue; the road, Northgate Street, leading to it on the other side, the North Side, of the church; Smith Street which leads towards Leamington from the West Gate; and by the Castle wall near our venue. There are council car parks too https://www.warwickdc.gov.uk/info/20547/warwick_car_parks

  • Covid entry requirements: participants must be able to show they have been fully vaccinated (or NHS certified for antibodies) AND had a negative lateral flow test on the day of arrival. If you have recently been to one of our events we will remember you satisfy the vaxx part.

Ways to show that you adhere to the entry rules include,
for vaccination or antibodies: an NHS domestic covid pass valid for more than 3 days after your arrival, or the card given to you when you completed vaccination, or a photocopy or scan of it.
For lateral flow test: the actual test strip in a clear plastic bag (we will have a bin to dispose of it), or the NHS message or text which is sent after registering it.
Note that it is usually possible to get a free pack of lateral flow tests from chemists or pop up test sites. We expect to have some spares but it takes 30 minutes to get the result, and we would be asking for trouble if we let you in meanwhile!!
