Milonga La Ideal this Friday 4th Feb/ Beginners classes and up 11th Feb.
Milonga La Ideal, Friday 4th February.
This Friday sees the Candlemas edition of Tango Warwick's monthly milonga. We are delighted to be able to welcome Ewa Zbrzeska as guest DJ.
We will be back home in the recently refurbished Warwick SPACE. It is a large room with a good floor, in a space reminiscent of Buenos Aires' Sunderland Club (some say), and with great acoustics.
Candlemas/ Imbolc celebrates the coming of light and the banishment of the dark days of winter; let's do that the way we love to do it! Whether or not you have been isolating with covid it's a superb opportunity to join other healthy and cheerful people in a celebration of tango.
Tango Warwick's covid entry conditions (see below) will be enforced, but otherwise it will be the friendly, joyful, welcoming and lively milonga, tango dancers have come to love.
There will be some nibbles, soft drinks, fine cordials and wine for early arrivers, but BYOB if you wish.
We encourage good tango, nice ronda and cabeceo!
Above all there will be a warm welcome for visitors and once regulars alike.
Time: 8pm to midnight.
Place: Warwick SPACE, 71 Coten End, Warwick CV34 4NU.
Cost (at door) : £12 (£8 for students with student card) plus vaxx & test.
DJ: Ewa Zbrzeska London based, originally from Poland, Ewa has been regularly DJing at major London milongas, and has played at various UK & European events. Many of you will already know her and love her choice of music.
Covid entry conditions: To enter you must be able to demonstrate completed vaccination or NHS certified antibodies, AND that you have taken a negative lateral flow test on 4th February. An NHS pass is NOT enough!
Warwick SPACE is on the north side of the main road north of the river between Leamington and Warwick; next to the Black Pug pub, aka Millwright Arms, and almost opposite a Sainsbury local. It is a short walk from Warwick Railway Station, and not far from M40 and A46. There are several hotels & B&B's nearby in this tourist area. The Castle Limes Hotel is a few minutes away. The Jephson in Leamington is about 1.3 miles away, inexpensive, but generally found adequate. Some swear by its breakfast.
PARKING is mostly on road, especially towards Warwick on the main road or Smith Street (one way, going East), on back streets (not very easy), or towards Warwick station. The St Nicholas Park car park is about 10 minutes walk away but you probably could do with a torch on the way back.

Tango Warwick Classes with Luis & Elizabeth and practica.
Our resident teachers Luis Rodrigues & Elizabeth Knock will be back from Argentina, and will take classes on Friday 11th Feb at St Mary's Church Hall, Leamington Spa, as once usual.
Absolute beginners will be welcome to the "Fundamentals Class" at 6.30 pm at a cost of £8. Advanced booking is not required. No partners are needed: however if you do not arrive with and stay with a fixed partner we will ask for proof of vaccination (2 jabs). All dancers must show that they have tested negative with a lft that day. We will keep this rule while hospitals are overstretched with covid patients.
The classes will be on Fridays, except for the first Friday of each month.
More details next week.
