Classes/practicas/ Feb milonga/ Diary

The Wednesday practicas at Warwick SPACE restart this Wednesday 8th Jan at 8.30 pm. These sessions are regular events with tango dancers who want to improve their dancing whilst they enjoy it. It is a friendly, totally relaxed and sociable time with a small number of dancers of wildly different levels, and usually tea & coffee and sometimes cakes. There is a decent floor and music. It is likely that you will be able to dance with or be advised by a more experienced dancer (especially in the first hour) but you can easily avoid that if you prefer! You do not need a partner. Cost £5. Drop in when you like for as long as you like.

Luis Rodrigues  & Elizabeth Knock,  are in Buenos Aires, returning to continue as our resident teachers on 24th January. To make up for that we have some excellent and exciting guest teachers: Kate Miller & Yuri Bellicanta on 10th Jan, and Dante Culcuy & Chris Benson on 17th Jan (but be aware of the different timing on 17th!!). Details for 10th are as usual and repeated below.Kate and Yuri are now familiar to many of us. They are champions of the Baltic Open Tango Cup 2018 (tango pista and tango vals) and finalists at the Munster Tango Contest 2018 (tango pista and milonga), achieving 3rd place in the category Milonga Europe. Most importantly, they are dedicated social dancers and strong advocates of tango as an improvisational dance. Kate & Yuri teach at Meta Fierro Tango in London, and have been popular covers for Luis & Elizabeth in 2019 and 2018. It should be a very good evening for all levels.The first class, at 6.30, will be designed with the recently started beginners in mind, but will benefit dancers of all levels. Experienced dancers regularly join it; apart from anything else that helps to bring on the others.

Permission of the teachers is required for the more advanced second & third classes.

The lively practica/ social dance with some nibbles, drinks and wine, will complete a happy, sociable, and instructive evening's tango. The DJ will be Ann Nunn. Visiting tangueros will be very welcome, as well as regulars, intermittenters, and returners.

For your Diary: The February (Candlemas) edition of Milonga La Ideal will be at Warwick SPACE on 7th February, 8.30-00.30 (approx). It will feature a performance by Dante Culcuy & Chris Benson. The popular Ozgur Ydin will return as DJ.

Details for 10th January (are as usual):
6.30pm to 7.30pm: Essential tango techniques. Please arrive a bit before the start if you possibly can, to help the class begin on time.
7.15 pm to 8.15 pm: Improvers & Essential tango techniques.
8.15 for 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm: Intermediates.
9.30 (approx) to 10.30 (approx): Practica, DJ Ann Nunn

Teachers: Yuri Bellicanta & Kate MillerPRICES: Beginners Class £8 (£5 for students with student Id), together with improvers class £10 (£8).
Other classes £8 (£5) for one, £12 (£10) for the whole evening.
Practica: Free with classes otherwise £2
