Milonga Ideal with Emilia Andrada, Friday 6th December.
No Classes at St Mary's this week, but here is the Time and Space to put aside thoughts of Christmas & New Year, and dance!
La Milonga Ideal, December edition
DATE: Friday 6th December
TIME: 8pm to midnight.,
PLACE: Warwick SPACE, 71 Coten End, Warwick CV34 4NU
Come dance to gorgeous music from our guest DJ Emilia Andrada (Emilia Tango); join friendly friends and friendly strangers in the creation of lovely dances inspired by her music, for an evening celebrating the enjoyment of tango.
You are invited to come and enhance the December edition of Tango Warwick’s monthly traditional milonga.
We are delighted to welcome Emilia Andrada* as guest DJ. Well known to many of you, she has been a tango DJ for over 12 years, starting in Argentina. She has deejayed at milongas, festivals & encuentros in Argentina, Brazil , Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Holland, Cyprus, and UK. “I take pleasure in crafting an atmosphere that is not only intense and romantic but also joyous and inspiring, beckoning everyone to gracefully glide across the dance floor. It's about having fun, feeling the excitement and sharing smiles throughout each tanda”
We will be at home in Warwick SPACE. It is a large room with a decent floor, in a space reminiscent of Buenos Aires' Sunderland Club (some say), and with great acoustics.
Some nibbles, soft drinks, fine cordials and wine for early arrivers, but BYOB if you wish.
We encourage good tango, nice ronda and cabeceo.
It will be the friendly, joyful, welcoming, and lively, milonga tango dancers have come to love. Above all there will be a warm welcome for visitors, occasionals, and regulars alike.
COST (at door in cash only ) : £12 (£8 for students with student card). IN CASH.
Prebooking not required.
WARWICK SPACE is on the north side of the main road north of the river between Leamington and Warwick; next to the Black Pug pub, aka Millwright Arms, and almost opposite a Sainsbury local. It is a short walk from Warwick Railway Station, and not far from M40 and A46. There are several hotels & B&B's nearby in this tourist area. The Castle Limes Hotel is a few minutes away. The Jephson in Leamington is about 1.3 miles away, fairly inexpensive, but generally found adequate. Some swear by its breakfast. Kenilworth hotels are a short drive away.
PARKING is mostly on road, especially towards Warwick on the main road or Smith Street (one way, going East), on back streets (not very easy), or towards Warwick station. The St Nicholas Park car park is about 10 minutes walk away but you probably could do with a torch on the way back.
*Emilia Andrada, our guest DJ, draws on her long and deep background in dance: "With over 23 years of dance experience, I have also completed formal education in
"Social and Political History of Tango" at the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences and the seminars in "Musicalización en Tango" (Tango DJ) at the Argentine Tango Institute and the "Fundamental Styles of Tango
Orchestras* by Ignacio Varchausky in Bs.As.
In addition, four years of complementary studies in music theories related to dance at the Faculty of Arts of the National University of Tucuman during my dance degree."
