Tango SPArkle festival 29th-31st October

Tango Warwick's Tango SPArkle festival runs from Friday 29th October to Sunday 31st:

It seems now that this will be our traditional Tango Spa in all but name: 20 odd hours dancing in beautiful venues (Warwick Courthouse Ballroom on Friday evening; The Royal Pump Rooms, Leamington, for the Saturday Ball, and Sunday Twilight Tango; Royal Pump Rooms Conservatory for Matinee Milonguitas on Sat and Sun afternoon). PLUS the legendary Ricardo & Jenny Oria to teach and perform; PLUS Corina Piatti at Twilight Tango "to dance, listen, or dream, to" as tradition demands. NOT FORGETTING DJ's to die for-but you will choose to dance to them first.

NB: Tango Warwick now imposes strict covid entry conditions: essentially
Vaxx PLUS test, more strict than most other events. See bottom of page.

Booking is open for individual dance events, dance packages, and classes. The programme is essentially as last year, which was to be on the same lines as previous years. Booking has been quite heavy and numbers are limited so you are strongly advised to book in advance even for individual events, especially if travelling far, and advanced booking may become mandatory.

However please note we still may have to make changes because of the ongoing pandemic. They may be last minute. We will do what we can to alleviate any such happenings. At the moment they seem unlikely.

We are proud to introduce our DJ's :

Welcome Milonga: Ricardo Oria himself, who delighted us in 2018 when he stood in at short notice;

Grand Spa Ball: David Thomas, who has kept us dancing and loving being alive in many other venues, including the ALSO festival;

Twilight Tango: it has to be Ricardo Peixoto, to keep up the excitement to the very last chord;

and for the Matinee Milonguita's the trusted team of Ann Nunn on Saturday and Juan de Scarfo on Sunday.

On Saturday & Sunday all events are close to each other in central Leamington; the workshops at North Hall, Spencer Yard, CV31 3SY and the dance events at the Royal Pump Rooms, The Parade, CV32 4AA.

specifying
(1) which dance events or workshops you want to attend and
(2) whether you are a leader, follower or couple and
(3)confirming that all those you are booking for will be willing and able to show on arrival that they have been fully vaccinated (or have had a positive PCR test within 6 months) and have had a negative lft test on the day of arrival and

Please be patient; your bookings will be recorded in order of arrival.

We aim to balance the number of leaders and followers in each workshop (not the welcome class). To help us, please book early. HOTELS etc
Two of the most convenient: Travel Lodge and Premiere, both on The Parade. People have not enjoyed James Hotel much even though it is so close to N Hall & the Pump Rooms, and inexpensive. I've heard good reports of the Angel Hotel. The Jephson (aka newly refurbished Falstaff) is about 15 minutes walk from the Leamington venues, and a short taxi ride from them and the Courthouse in Warwick. It costs around £50 for Friday, £65 for Saturday, but they quite like tangueros so you might get extra nice treatment if you mention that---they have a ballroom-I'm wondering if it would be usable for those who need something later than midnight on Friday....
Lots of B&B's and AirB&B's too.

PARKING-suggestions nearer the time.

Tango Warwick COVID ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: participants must be able to show they have been fully vaccinated (or had a positive PCR test less than 6 months ago but are past the quarantine period) AND had a negative lateral flow test on the day of arrival.

Ways to show that you adhere to the entry rules include
for vaccination or antibodies: an NHS domestic covid pass valid for more than 3 days after your arrival, or the card given to you when you completed vaccination, or a photocopy or scan of it. If you have recently been to one of our events we will remember you satisfy this.
for lateral flow test: the actual test strip in a clear plastic bag (we will have a bin to dispose of it), or the NHS message or text which is sent after registering it.
Note that it is easy to get a free pack of lateral flow tests from chemists or pop up test sites. We will have some spares but it takes 30 minutes to get the result, and we would be asking for trouble if we let you in meanwhile!!
